In-Person and Online Lessons
In-person lessons are held in NYC (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens) and Wilton, Connecticut; please contact to confirm dates and locations.
Online Zoom lessons are offered to students residing anywhere in the U.S.
My students range from ages five to 60+ years old. Some students are picking up an instrument for the very first time, others are preparing for regional orchestra auditions, and a number of students are even accomplished musicians who play other instruments and are now looking to experience the cello.
I believe that anyone can develop meaningful skills and practices through musical study. I work with each cellist to devise a tailored lesson plan that allows them to implement the cello into their lives in a way that keeps them excited and curious. Scales, etudes, and fundamental technique exercises are regular parts of my lessons. I enjoy using Suzuki cello volumes for newer students and work through the standard classical cello repertoire, including showpieces, sonatas, and concertos, with more experienced cellists. I also enjoy exploring pop and film music with cellists who are eager to learn outside of the classical genre, and I have helped many students arrange and perform their own versions of favorite contemporary tunes.
My students have successfully auditioned for youth and college programs such as:
Juilliard Pre-College
Philadelphia International Music Festival
Norwalk Youth Symphony
Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestra
Sacramento Youth Symphony
Old Dominion University: Diehn School of Music
Kent State: Glauser School of Music
The College of Wooster: Department of Music
